Merchandise On The Way
22.10.08 | Jon - Webmanager |
Badges, Blue Apple Music, Christmas Presents, Merchandise, Probably No God, Slogan, T-shirts
Thanks for all the suggestions about merchandise! It’s been a bit tricky to get this to work immediately, and we should be able to open an online shop here with T-Shirts and bumper stickers to purchase from sometime later this week.
I’ll make sure that anyone that has posted a comment or has e-mailed us about merchandise will be informed when the shop goes live.
There will be a small markup on the cost of each item which will be added to the funds to put ads on more buses.

Fantastic! Can you just put ‘there’s probably no god. now stop worrying and enjoy your life’ on the front and the URL’s on the back? On the design above the URLs seem to distract from the slogan – I’ll still buy one though.

Merchandise… brilliant, count me in. Badgers too please!
October 22nd, 2008 at 16:45
…I meant badges.
October 22nd, 2008 at 16:51
If we print both sides it costs much more…
The web URLs will be smaller than that.
Badges – not sure about those. Will look into it!
October 22nd, 2008 at 16:53
If the URLs will be smaller then that’s great – I did say I’d buy one anyway
I think quite a few of my friends and family may be getting these in their stockings this Xmas.

You don’t have to meet the bus company’s mamby-pamby censorship standards for T-shirts. Can they please say “almost certainly” of just drop the “probably” altogether?
There is no god.
Now stop worrying. And enjoy your life.
October 22nd, 2008 at 20:11
Pleeeease.. use a designer; you don’t need to use the same format as the bus.
At very least remove those full stops.
Also in the image above the URLS look like they will be too small and faint to read on fabric.

I would like to purchase a T-shirt like the one in the figure. Please let me know at cnavarro {at} portoweb.com(.)br when the shop is ready to buy.

After reading an article about this on a website, I was offended at first then after I thought about it as a Christian I think it is a great idea. It will only bring more people closer to God. Don’t worry…lol…in today’s economy!!! Okay…don’t worry until you are homeless with nothing to eat.
I will pray for you all!

Wonderful!
I’ll be buying a T shirt and car sticker to help spread the word!!!
October 23rd, 2008 at 0:51
Hey, could we get T-Shirts that say ‘Athiest and proud’ on them as well? …for the variation. Or maybe that’s for the next campaign, with all the money that’s being raised.
October 23rd, 2008 at 10:01
I think an atheist badger is a great idea.
Get them in the shops in time for Mid-Winter festival. I’ll buy one for my nephew.
October 23rd, 2008 at 10:36
“THERE’S PROBABLY NO GOD. SO STOP WORRYING AND ENJOY YOUR LIFE!” – keep the “probably”, it’s more witty and less arrogant, suggest changing “now” to “so”, and perhaps and exclamation at the end? Keep up the good work!!
October 23rd, 2008 at 11:39
Count me in!
October 23rd, 2008 at 12:12
And can we have them not just in white? It just doesn’t suit me. I have but one life, and don’t want to go around minging in a badly colour co-ordinated t….
October 23rd, 2008 at 12:14
Sweatshirts, bumper stickers, bags, EVERYTHING, please!
Preferably also the popular variations too, e.g.
THERE’S NO GOD
THERE’S ALMOST CERTAINLY NO GOD, etc.
And a shop or shops where it’s easy to order from different parts of the world too.
Strike while the iron’s hot – we’re all hungry for these products. Atheists out of the closet!
October 23rd, 2008 at 12:26
If you use a company like Spreadshirt (http://spreadshirt.net/) then it’s really simple to add other items like stickers, badges, bags, mugs, and much more.
October 23rd, 2008 at 12:30
Yes that’s more or less what we’re doing… Problem is that the font we use is rather unusual and hence it’s not so simple technologically speaking.
More soon!
October 23rd, 2008 at 15:38
I have donated – lovin the whole thing – been quite energised by it really
looking forward to buying every version of the tshirts!
October 23rd, 2008 at 16:06
wonderful! I want a load of bumper stickers!! posters would be good too- to counteract all those alpha course posters turning up everywhere
October 24th, 2008 at 11:06
count me in for the tee-shirts
October 24th, 2008 at 11:51
Yeah, I’d like a sticker for my car bumper… but I’d like to have just a “normal” sticker as well. Just a universal sticker you can stick on anything. I want to stick one on my laptop
October 24th, 2008 at 12:02
WOW I cant wait to see peoples face expression when they see the new fashion… Our religious friends are gonna be gobsmacked lol.
****We need SMALL STICKERS as well that we can slap around wherever we go.****
October 24th, 2008 at 12:37
If it said ‘There are probably no gods’ I would (probably) buy one.
I hate being monotheistically Abrahamically centric in my ‘non-belief’ in god’s’.
October 24th, 2008 at 13:03
Leave the ‘probably’ in there…see Dawkin’s God Delusion re 1 and 6.99…faith versus rationality…as a scientist I’m still open to proper evidence..meanwhile I’m at 6.99 which is not ‘no’ but ‘almost certainly not’. However ‘probably’ is catchier than ‘almost certainly not’ and fits on buses and T-shirts better! Will we get an eamil to tell us when stuff is available?
October 26th, 2008 at 20:36
I like the “Atheist and proud” slogan. Could you get a supply of the red A pins too?
October 31st, 2008 at 14:31
Get the timing right, and car-stickers, etc. simply saying PROBABLY NOT could be effective!
I’ve got one on the back of my car in conjunction with one of those silver fishes…..

I’d just like to draw your attention to this:
“The Atheist’s Guide To Christmas” is the UK’s first atheist charity book, featuring contributions from Richard Dawkins, Derren Brown, Ben Goldacre, Simon Singh, Claire Rayner, David Baddiel, Charlie Brooker and many more. It’s been edited by Ariane Sherine, the creator of the hugely successful Atheist Bus Campaign. It’s out on Oct 1st and all royalties are going to the HIV charity Terrence Higgins Trust. Please pre-order now:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Atheists-Guide-Christmas-Ariane-Sherine/dp/0007322615/
The Atheist’s Guide is a mix of humorous and poignant contributions from over 40 various prominent atheists. It’ll make an ideal Christmas gift for your atheist friends. Your religious friends will love it too, or, even better, it’ll put them in a foul mood for Xmas! So a win-win situation! More info on the Facebook group:
http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=128903634833
Your support will not only maintain the profile of atheism in the UK, it will also help raise funds for the very worthy THT charity. Please note that the contributors, and Ms Sherine, have waived payment for their considerable input into the “Guide”.
Thank you, and please pass this message on to everyone you know!!
[My apologies if you already know about the Guide!]

I wonder if any of you could help me to understand something?
I am a Christian (please don’t stop reading!!). I do however completely respect an atheist’s right to decide what they wish to believe / not believe (as the case may be
)
Obviously Christian’s try to spread what they believe to non-believers as it is our belief that in order to be saved and go to heaven, you need to accept God into your life and ask for his forgiveness etc. We are ultimately trying to help people. I have only been a Christian for a few years (before that I suppose I was agnostic!), but I can say that my life is certainly not any less enjoyable than it was before hand. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. I DO NOT worry as much as I used to and I DO enjoy my life.
I suppose what I’m tring to understand is what motivates an Atheist to go out and try and persuede people that there is no God. There just doesn’t seem to be any benefit for either party! However, I would really like to get your views on this – I am genuinely interested in your opinion.
Many thanks.
p.s. I completely agree with your views on not labelling children and letting them decide for themselves as per your billboard campaign. I belong to a Baptist church and we only believe in a believers / adult baptism (not all Christian’s are the same!)

Well firstly because it’s always worth pointing out when things are not true – or vanishingly unlikely to be true.
One of the things that makes me crossest about the Alpha course is the tag ‘explore the meaning of life’ — when what they actually mean is ‘absorb a not-very-scholarly analysis of just one of a myriad of religious belief systems put together by our friendly religious conservatives.’
What I hope most from the atheist bus campaign is not that everyone will suddenly become atheist (I’m a realist) but that those trapped – and especially those raised – in a limited system will feel they have the permission to *really* explore the meaning of life – ie. to look at the cultural roots of their beliefs – and the views of the likes of me – and think properly without fear. And not feel that thinking is immoral.
The other day, as happens from time to time, I was accosted by a woman on the bus going ‘Do you know Jesus Christ? Have you read your Bible etc’. It’s the kind of argument I quite enjoyed 20 years ago – now I know all the moves, I’m just profoundly bored. Like so many Christians who accost people on buses, she couldn’t distinguish between a good factual point and a leaden metaphor and ended up banging on about hell and how I’ll be toast. These people never accept a civil ‘no thankyou, I’m not interested’. It gives me a nice warm feeling inside to have provided, in a small way, and alternative to this inane evangelising.
