Australia: Officially Cool

The presenters of Australia’s biggest television show, Sunrise, are not just very funny and great with puns – they’re also the most freethinking people I’ve come across in TV since the start of the campaign! Watch this and feel hopeful…

What a really nice positive interview Ariane.
Well done!

That was terrific! Let’s hope that the Aussies can catch us up and have free-speech on their own buses.
Well done Ariane!

Superb! Thank you for posting the clip, it was really pleasing to watch it.

Yeah, but we’re officially uncool thanks to the largest outdoor advertising company here refusing to run the ads…

Let’s hope for the sake of Freedom of Speech and for Australia’s own sake, that the next Atheist campaign launched there is accepted.
How anyone could reject “Atheism: sleep in on Sundays” is beyond me, but not beyond human ignorance.

Great job with the interview, but I just had to say that Sunrise is probably the most despised television show amongst intelligent people in Australia, or at least in the top 3 (alongside Today Tonight and A Current Affair).

Great interview. I love the people waving in the backround!

That’s Weekend Sunrise. Andrew O’Keefe is an exceptional TV host. He can do the cheesy TV guy thing but still manage to be intelligent and genuinely witty. This makes him fascinating and refreshing. Monday to Friday, they have very different hosts, and I would never describe them as freethinking, nor funny. So the coolness is not official. And in fact I’m almost sure that the female weekend host would have officially got herself in some hot water with the producers for what sounded to me like a blithe endorsement of atheism right after the interview. From memory it was something like “lets hope this kind of freethinking spreads.”

best interview yet.
Perhaps it will happen eventually if enough people are of the same mind as the people on that programme.
They are so refreshingly different from American TV presenters!

Those idiots in the background were cracking me up…how long can you wave without getting tired?? They were even having arguments…
Great interview with Ariane, damn she’s cute!

I am amazed with it. It is a good thing for my research. Thanks

Good for them. That was a nice interview

Great Interview. Although I think that most people who consider themselves to be atheists will feel certain that there is no God seeing that the definition of the word Atheist is “a person who believes that there is no God.” (taken directly from a dictionary).
I also think that if this campaign converts anyone from their religious then that is good thing.
I can’t believe those weirdos waving in the background that was god damn annoying.

Great interview!
I honestly didn’t notice anyone in the background though, was that just me?
January 18th, 2009 at 17:59
I didn’t notice the people behind the presenters first time I watched. I think I was distracted by discovering that some people still wear stripes on telly.

“I know that my grandmother would be upset about it, so, I’d rather not see it.”
That’s a strange way of living your life. I’m not sure if avoiding the sight of something that would offend a close family relative two generations above you will actually achieve much.

I am unable to understand this post. But well some points are useful for me.

Really pleased you enjoyed it! I was really nervous beforehand so I’m glad it was okay.
