Bit Of Fun: Where Now?

I’ve been e-mailed these fab mockups by a visitor to the site, D. Mason. Click on either image above to see the full size image.

So, you ask, as we’ve exceeded our fundraising target, where else will the banners appear? The first stage will be to investigate more ads, for longer, on more buses, in more cities (across the UK and maybe beyond) but frankly all of this needs to be decided among the organisers, and we haven’t had a moment to even meet yet… So please bear with us! In the meantime enjoy the designs, and also a new bus mockup sent to us by R. Longuir.

[UPDATE]
I’ve also been sent this excellent bus shelter image (to the right here)  by T. Kaye, released under a Creative Commons License. Click the small image to see the full size one.

Maybe you could buy your own bus? No, seriously. There’s a truck (lorry?? Sorry, I’m the US) stop on my commute to work that has a permanent Trailer of Faith parked there. So, how about a Bus of Reason instead.

    Happy Atheist Says:

How about a march through London? Several thousand atheists just letting the world know that we’re here. Marches could also be arranged in other towns and cities.

If everyone on the marches bought and wore a tshirt bearing the slogan that’d chip a few more quid into the campaign pot too.

I suggest the march be called “We Walk Among You”

HOW DID U KNOW THAT THERE’S NO GOD?

Instead of just a poster on the side of the bus, could you paint the whole bus?

To deter christians I am thinking of putting the following by my front door.

    “Beware of the Dog
(There is probably no dog. The sign is just to stop you from worrying me and my wife.)”

catty, the ad says ‘probably’. But this raises an interesting point..I’ve never heard anyone say “there probabaly is a god”, for them it’s always 100% fact (how they know this is never explained). This proves that belief in God is never a result of statistical likelyhood based on observation, but just a baseless opinion.

Now, as far as uses for the money goes, why not open an interest bearing account and use the earnings to do an ad campaign every year.

Great pics! I’d love to see one of those billboards on the side of a mosque but I guess that would be rising life and limb.

    Agnostic Says:

Simon, if you need statistics to back up your hypothesis of there being no god then since you cannot prove this with absolute 100% certainty it stands to reason you must accept even the smallest possibility he/she exists. Ergo, you are not an atheist. Have some backbone and conviction in what you claim to believe (not not believe) in.

I believe that the likelyhood of god existing is about the same as the likelyhood of Santa and the Easter Bunny car-pooling to work. Not likely, but not disprovable either. I’m not arrogant enough to suggest that something is 100% certain, but it’s enough for me to say it close to impossible as you can get. That’s the atheist position.

Probably :-) the best cause I ‘ve ever donated for.

    Today a bus… Tomorrow:

Agnostic: Dawkins and Harris would disagree. In their eyes, a true atheist doesn’t believe there is NO god, just that the known facts strongly suggest that there isn’t one and thus it’s not worth considering. One could argue that this makes one a Skeptic as opposed to an Atheist, but I say the two classifications are equal. I would also argue that an Atheist who takes the zero-probability stance is as much a narrow-minded fundamentalist as is a 100%-probability Monotheist.

In any case, the point of the “Probably” on the sign is justified in order to get around advertising legislation, and the point of the sign is to enlighten those who are already skeptical. There’s no hope converting fundamentalists as they are by definition unshakable in their opinion (aka faith). (The same holds true on either side of the argument)

Coule we have poster paccks available for supporters to buy so that they can put them up in local towns? I think the God-squad do something similar. Also pin badges would be excellent, I’d love to play spot the supporter when out and about

I would love to see an Atheist message on the electronic billboard on Cardiff high street! Every time I walk past it seems to have another bloody bible quote, and I’d really love for a bit of balance on the sign…

Also, my mate just got me wondering how much it would cost to setup a happy meal promo? Who doesn’t want a Richard Dawkins doll and an Atheist lunch box?! :)
